Taking A Stand

The SWFDC was formed in 2012 by Pastor Paul Binion of Westside Community Church, Dick Keyes, then-Council member Oliver Baines and consultant Allysunn Walker-Williams. Local residents who took a stand for community change, believing their residents deserve safe, clean, thriving neighborhoods. The SWFDC was embraced by residents who sought solutions to chronic poverty, public sector disinvestment, high levels of unemployment and rentership, persistent environmental injustices, low-performing schools, rising incidence of violence and community despair.
